To kick off the new season of Meet the Artisans, we visited the Malta Tiles factory in Kordin, where Robert Lia, his daughter Rebecca and his son Gabriel introduced us to the craftsmanship behind Malta’s distinctive traditional patterned tiles.
Participants not only discovered the materials and techniques involved in tile making, gaining a greater appreciation of the skill, precision and patience required to create these pieces of Maltese heritage, but also had the chance to get their hands dirty and make their very own tile!
As has become tradition, we also distributed the new artisan passports, with participants collecting stamps at each session throughout the season. Those attending the most sessions will be rewarded at the end of the season.
