Beginner Courses in Traditional Crafts

Conscious of the importance of keeping traditional crafts alive as an integral part of local culture, heritage, and national identity, the Malta Crafts Foundation is offering Beginner Courses in Traditional Crafts for people of all ages, especially students and young people.

With a growing appreciation of handmade products within the local market, the courses offer an opportunity to learn the basics of some of Malta’s most popular crafts, with the possibility of bringing in an element of innovation as a new artisan.

The first series of Beginner Courses in Traditional Crafts – which is intended as a pilot project – includes courses in Ceramics, Filigree, Macramé, and Weaving.

Being a pilot project and in order to facilitate uptake of the courses, the Malta Crafts Foundation is intentionally offering an element of flexibility in the application form, with interested persons being invited to submit all their available day and time preferences. The courses and the starting date will then be scheduled in accordance with the demand.

Download the application form here, fill it in, and send via email on: [email protected].

Deadline for applications for the first intake is Friday, March 22nd 2024, but the Malta Crafts Foundation may also open additional intakes depending on the uptake and demand for the courses.
