Ray Aquilina is a mosaic artist, which is the art of creating images with an assemblage of small pieces of coloured glass, marble, stone, or other material. It is a technique of decorative art, a form of interior decoration, or an aspect of spiritual significance.
Having worked as a diamond cutter for 15 years, Ray is a perfectionist and loves to work with details. He tries to take the craft of mosaic to the next level, where each piece is a work of art. Living close to the sea, Ray was always enchanted by its beauty and specialises in portraying it in his art – expressing its colours which keep changing from dusk till dawn, in stormy weather or calm seas.
Training
- Studied at MCAST, and went for a course at the Mosaic School of Luciana Notturni in Ravenna, Italy.
