Marie Louise Bajada has been practising Maltese bobbin lace from a very young age. Her first tutor was her mother, who instilled in her the love for lace. Throughout the years, she attended different lace courses and congresses, both locally and abroad.

Thanks to her knowledge of pattern design and lacemaking, she worked on various ecclesiastical and secular laces. Her knowledge in lacemaking gives her the opportunity to combine traditional and contemporary lace, which helps to keep the craft alive.

Marie Louise is currently the secretary of The Malta Lace Guild; and a member of OIDFA – The International Bobbin and Needle Lace Organisation, an organization for lacemakers from over 40 different countries.

In addition to lace, she also produces embroidery and has received commissions such as the emblem of the Malta Society of Arts, and the flags on the President of the Republic of Malta’s cars.

She also used to teach lace and embroidery to students of different ages.
