Joan Haber is the co-owner of Alka Ceramics, which was set up by Paul Haber – the first B.A. Hons. graduate in ceramics in Malta, and awardee of a government scholarship to study ceramics in London’s most prestigious colleges for ceramists.

Based at the Ta’ Qali Artisan Village, Alka Ceramics retail outlet is annexed to their production area and provides visitors with a closer-to-the-touch experience with the artistic pieces on display. Despite a busy production line, Alka Ceramics’ strength stems from its ability to nonetheless meet customer demands: no requirement is too complex, no piece is too small.

Alka Ceramics also runs an educational pottery programme that includes a large choice of different options for classes, ranging from courses or sessions for all ages on ceramics, clay throwing on the potter’s wheel, and sculpting; to school outings, organised groups and team building sessions.

Besides supplying clay, tools, and raw materials to potters and schools, Alka Ceramics also provides many artists, craftspersons, and schools with a service of firing of ceramics works and sculptures, as well as consultancy about which materials and equipment to use.
