Within the context of Malta’s second participation in the European Artistic Crafts Days (EACD), various artisans around the Maltese islands held workshops open to the general public, especially for the younger generations.

Taking place every year during the beginning of spring, the EACD were first launched by the Institut National des Métiers d’Art (INMA) in 2002 as the Artistic Craft Days in France. They have since become the first international event dedicated to crafts and nowadays comprise the participation of artisans from more than 20 countries from all over Europe.

Malta’s participation in the European Artistic Crafts Days (EACD) will this year be culminating during the first edition of the Wanderlust Festival – Malta’s first family festival of its kind, being held during the coming weekend, April 6th and 7th, at the Picnic Area in Ta’ Qali.

Under the theme “Little Fingers, Expert Hands”, this year’s European Artistic Crafts Days (EACD) aim to encourage the general public – especially the younger generations – to participate in workshops with local artisans, thereby helping them to try their hand at the craft and possibly enticing them to explore the various opportunities within the artisan sector.

During some of the workshops, the Malta Crafts Foundation also took the opportunity to speak to participants about its participation in the “NEXT – Young NEETs shaping EXpectations for The future of Europe” project, highlighting opportunities within the artisan sector that youths can avail themselves of.
