Incorporating centuries-old artisanal traditions such as ganutell into novel and contemporary creations is not an easy feat, but in the latest session of Meet the Artisans participants could witness how Janine Cardona is managing to blend the old with the new in her jewellery collections.
During the session, which was again held within the Malta Crafts Foundation premises at the Ta’ Qali Artisan Village, participants also had the opportunity to try their hand at creating their own pieces in ganutell, which is the intricate art of using fine wires, thread, and beads to form delicate floral and leaf decorations.
Make sure you don’t miss our upcoming session of Meet the Artisans, which – given the proximity to the festivities – will be held on Sunday, December 17th rather than on the last Sunday of the month. More details will be announced soon.
