The craft of Maltese bobbin lace making has been passed on from one generation to another, ever since it was introduced to Malta in the first half of the 19th century and it was encouraging to witness an active, keen interest among the participants of our Meet the Artisans session in this beautiful tradition.
Held within our workshop within the Ta’ Qali Artisan Village, the first episode of our second season of Meet the Artisans saw master lace makers Madlene Muscat and Carmen Ellul introduce participants to the techniques they apply in their craft, and guide them to try their hand at creating their own simple design.
The new Artisan Passports were distributed to and stamped for both familiar faces and new participants – join us for our next sessions every last Sunday of the month to be in with a chance of winning a fabulous gift!
