Representatives of the Malta Crafts Foundation attended a residency in Granada organised by the World Crafts Council Europe, which highlighted how accreditation of crafts and crafts people is carried out in Spain.

Besides the schools where crafts are taught and the workshops full of equipment, participants were also shown how the skills and expertise of local artisans are recognized with certifications equivalent to modern day qualifications.

The strong bond between tutors and industry working together to ensure the security of the sector through targeted training and guaranteed employment was very evident throughout the visits.

The Malta Crafts Foundation looks forward to make the most of the knowledge gained for the benefit of the local artisan sector, and to continue acting as an intermediary between education and industry to facilitate cooperation leading to the preservation and sustainability of crafts in Malta.
