The World Crafts Council Europe (WCCE) has launched two calls for applications from artisans, namely for participation in a Creative Exchange Residency programme, and an exhibition at the international biennial of crafts and creation.

Malta-based artisans can also avail themselves of these opportunities as a result of the Malta Crafts Foundation’s membership in the organisation.

Creative Exchange Residency programme

The WCCE Creative Exchange Residency programme is an exchange between partnerships of craftspeople of different or similar skill levels, through which ideas, knowledge and expertise can be shared.

It also reinforces European arts and crafts’ capacity to be active at the international level strengthening transnational cooperation for the creation, circulation, promotion, and visibility of European works and ensuring the mobility and exchange of ideas.

The programme responds to the need to build a sustainable European infrastructure for transmitting craft knowledge and practice while fostering networking among craftspeople across Europe.

Applications are open until January 15th, 2023.

The full details can be found on the WCCE website, which also includes the link to the application form.

Révélations 2023

The WCCE will be hosting an exhibition at the international biennial of crafts and creation: Révélations 2023, in Le Banquet between the coming June 8th and 11th at Grand Palais Éphémère, Paris.

Applications for exceptional craft pieces by makers from around Europe should respond to the concept of ‘Praxis’ in the European Year of Skills and pay homage to the evolution of craft techniques from traditional through to the contemporary moment.

The selection committee will look for works which demonstrate current discourses around the human relationship with the digital and the global move away from working with one’s hands and body in education, economy and everyday life, toward values of efficiency, precision and scale.

Applications are open until January 9th, 2023.

Details of the call can be found on the WCCE website, which includes a link to the application form.
