Meet the Artisans: Gilding
The art of gilding owes its origins to the Egyptians, who thousands of years ago among others would décor the rooms of the pharaohs’ tombs with gold leaf, in the belief that gold was the colour of the gods.
During this month’s Meet the Artisans session, Pawlu Borg Cardona will describe the techniques used in gilding, the craft in which a thin sheet of metal is applied to a surface in order to provide it with a unique beauty and richness.
The session will be held within the Malta Crafts Foundation premises at the Ta’ Qali Artisan Village on Sunday, October 29th between 10:00h and noon.
Register your interest by sending us an email on 𝗺𝗰𝗳𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝘀@𝗺𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁𝘀.𝗼𝗿𝗴 to book your slot as spaces are limited! Don’t forget to bring your Artisan Passport with you, or to ask us for one if you had not managed to attend the first session.
