European Artistic Crafts Days
Malta will be participating for the first time in the European Artistic Crafts Days (EACD), with artisans opening the doors to their creative spaces and inviting people in to view their crafts coming to life. The initiative was inspired by the theme for 2023, ‘Elevate the Everyday’, and seeks to encourage people to explore the streets of Malta and Gozo and discover the beautiful pieces of craft that surround us and which, due to our busy schedule, are often overlooked!
Through the initiative of the Malta Crafts Foundation, an interactive online map has been created, to provide information on the location of artisans around the Maltese islands that will be taking part in the EACD. The interactive map provides a clear indication of where the public can visit artisans and obtain further insight into their creative work and products – possibly even just around the corner or in the neighbouring villages. Who knows how many times they would have passed by these artisan workshops unaware of the beauty that is being created within!
Most artisans will be organising specific workshop sessions and demonstrations throughout the week in order to provide visitors with a holistic view and a hands-on experience of the craft they love, the skill it requires, and the products that are created.
Details of the availability of each artisan, as well as any workshop they may be organising are shown on the interactive online map. To book your workshop, get in touch directly with the respective artisans on the contact details provided.
The first international event dedicated to crafts, the EACD is coordinated by the French Savoir-Faire Institute. This year’s event will comprise the participation of artisans from around 20 countries from all over Europe.
