This Christmas, choose meaningful, handmade gifts that carry the stories and skill of Malta’s artisans. As the festive season approaches, the Malta Crafts Foundation has relaunched its #ChooseLocal campaign to encourage the public to support local craftsmanship and pick artisanal handmade gifts.
One of the main initiatives is the annual Santa’s Workshop event at the Ta’ Dbieġi Artisan Village in Gozo, taking place on Saturday, December 13th, with free entry. Artisans will open their workshops, showcase their craft, and offer their handmade products, while families can enjoy children’s games, activities, and a treasure hunt with a chance to win a €100 voucher to spend with the artisans.
Across the islands, the Foundation is also coordinating several artisan markets, including those held during Fairyland and Rigal b’Imħabba. Fairyland will return at the entrance to Valletta between December 5th, 2025 and January 4th, 2026, while Rigal b’Imħabba – which as has now become tradition collects gifts for vulnerable children – will be held in Castille Square between December 15th and 24th, 2025.
Moreover, as has become custom, the Malta Crafts Foundation Artisanal Gifts Catalogue has also been updated with a wider selection of artisanal products that could inspire gift-giving this Christmas and beyond!
